HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN VIRGIN HUMAN HAIR HAIR & KEEP IT FRESH?
Whether you are buying Brazilian, Peruvian or Russian hair from us, we want you to get the BEST out of the hair and keep it looking lush for as long as possible!
The correct methods of hair maintenance are an essential key to keeping your hair extension fresh and long lasting. Did you know that, with the correct maintenance and care, quality virgin human hair extensions can last for 1-2 years! Yes years! So if you are buying hair extensions and they are becoming tangled and messy and un-usable any sooner than at least 6 months into the purchase, you may be buying the wrong quality of hair or doing something wrong!
So lets look at how to keep your virgin hair extensions fresher for longer!
1. Whenever you are applying your hair extensions using the sewing method, always make sure that the needle is put underneath the tresses, and NEVER directly through the weft! You do not want to damage the weft, as this is what keeps everything together! If you damage the weft you may experience a lot of hair shedding and diminish the quality of your bundle.
2. Wash and condition your virgin hair extensions every two weeks. This will remove any build up of products and keep it fresh and nourished, just like you would with real hair (because that is what virgin hair IS! It is real hair!
3. Ensure that you remember to always brush the hair BEFORE washing it! This loosens up the hair and removes any tangles. If you skip this step you may well regret it later as when you brush it wet, without the pre-wash brush out, it will be more prone to tangles and snags, which can lead to hair breakage and will again take away from the quality of your bundles.
4. Find out beforehand if your extensions are hand wefted. If they are hand wefted then you should NEVER CUT THE WEFT because this hand sewn weft is what is keeping all the hair together. When a hand sewn weft has been cut the hair no longer has anything to stay attached to and will just fall off of the weft until there is nothing left! Hand wefted hair is always the best quality over machine wefted hair but some prefer the fact that you CAN cut most of the machine wefted ones and adapt the lengths of your pieces to whatever you desire. You decide, but remember this rule if it is hand wefted! Once you cut a hand wefted piece there is no going back!
5. If you are using European hair eg Russian and Peruvian hair and even if you are going for Brazilian Hair, we highly recommend the usage of EUROPEAN hair products such as hair serum, spray, shampoo, conditioner and hair mask treatment. The reason being that this hair reacts well to these products. If you have naturally afro hair and use your afro hair products on your hair extensions it will probably cause a lot of greasy build up, stiffness and tangling - the reason simply being that European hair products are made for European hair and Afro hair products are made for Afro Hair! Limit your use of oils on your hair extensions and never use grease or heavy products on them.
6. To maintain the health of your hair extensions, we recommend that you use bendy rollers overnight to create more volume and beautiful curls by the morning. You should definitely do this, whenever you can, as an alternative to regular heat curling. This helps to maintain the health and life span of your hair extensions. Too much heat styling can damage the hair, make it dull and lifeless and lessen its life span.
7. Always remember that this is REAL human hair! So you can curl it, straighten it, colour it, cut it, swim with it, shower with it, wear it at the gym - whatever suits your mood! It does EVERYTHING that real European hair does, so whatever the weather, flaunt your purchase and tell your friends! But remember, too much of any of these things can shorten the life span of your luscious locks, so look after them well!
